Version 6.8.0 – Affiliate Email Newsletters + Click Attribution Improvements

Version 6.8.0 of Coupon Affiliates is now available.

This update introduces a new built‑in Email Newsletter tool, along with a new Attribution Model setting for referral tracking.

Email Newsletters

You can now create and send custom email newsletters to all affiliates (or target specific groups), directly from your WordPress dashboard, without needing to use some other third-party newsletter tool.

    • Compose and send from your WordPress admin.
    • Target all affiliates or specific segments/groups.
    • View a history/log of newsletters sent.

To get started, go to the “PRO Modules” tab on the settings page, and enable the new “Email Newsletters” module.

This will then display a new “Newsletters” settings tab where you can customise a few default settings.

You can then go to the “Email Newsletters” admin page to view a log of past newsletters.

Click the “Create New Newsletter” button to open that page to create and send a new one to your affiliate users.

Fill out the options including the subject and content, select the affiliate user roles/groups to send to, then click “Create & Start Sending”.

If you do not have an SMTP plugin setup you will see a warning message and will need to click the confirmation checkbox before sending:

Das ist wichtig: No SMTP plugin detected. Configure an SMTP provider (WP Mail SMTP, Post SMTP, FluentSMTP, SendGrid, Amazon SES, etc.) before bulk sending for better deliverability & reduced spam risk.

    Attribution Model

You can now choose how conversions are credited when multiple referral links are involved in a customers purchase, in the “Referral Links” settings tab.

      • Last-Click: New referral links overwrite referral cookies and auto-applied coupon with the latest affiliate.
      • First-Click: Once a referral cookie exists, later referral links won’t replace it or the cart coupon automatically; customers can still manually apply a different coupon.

Bare in mind: In both cases the referral link cookie will take priority over the cart coupon in terms of awarding the affiliate.

We also made a few small tweaks and improvements to the code to improve consistency.

Before this update, only “last-click” attribution was available.

      Tweaks and fixes

      • Tweak: (PRO) The custom payout amount field on the affiliate dashboard payouts tab is now always 2 decimal places.
      • Fix: Fixed an issue with deleting admin accounts triggering user roles to be deleted.
      • Fix: Fixed a potential PHP warning on the floating widget when a coupon has no statistics yet.
