Short URLs look like https://yoursite.com/link/fnhj7rdk, and redirect to the affiliate’s full referral URL. If yours are showing a 404 or not redirecting, work through the checks below.

1. Refresh your permalinks

This fixes most short URL problems. Go to Settings → Permalinks in your WordPress admin and click Enregistrer les modifications. You don’t need to change anything – saving is enough to rebuild the URL rules.

Try your short URL again afterwards.

2. Check whether the Shortlink Slug was changed

Le link part of the URL comes from the Shortlink Slug setting on the Referral Links l'onglet "Paramètres".

If you change it, short URLs your affiliates generated with the old slug stop working – the old links point at an address that no longer exists. Either change the slug back, or ask affiliates to generate fresh short URLs from their dashboard.

After changing the slug, always resave your permalinks as in step 1.

3. Check the slug doesn’t clash

Pick a Shortlink Slug that nothing else on your site uses. If you have a page, post or category using the same path, WordPress may serve that instead of the short URL.

4. Clear your caches

Caching and optimisation plugins, and host-level or CDN caching, can hold on to a 404 they saw earlier. Clear your site cache, and your CDN cache if you use one, then try the link again in a private browser window.

Other things worth knowing

Short URLs only work for links on your own site. If the referral URL points at another domain, the plugin returns it unshortened – that’s expected behaviour, not a fault.

The same link always gives the same short URL. Generating one twice for the same referral URL reuses the existing short link rather than creating another.
