(PRO) MLA – How to edit a user’s parents

Updated September 21, 2026

With Multi-Level Affiliates, if for some reason you would like to edit the MLA parents for a specific affiliate user, then you can do this by simply editing the user, and going down to the “MLA Parent Users” section, where you can edit the tier 1 parent affiliate (the main affiliate that invited this user). This will then automatically update all other tiers below this if applicable.

Example video:

Who can be set as the parent

The parent you choose can’t be someone who is already below that affiliate in their own network, and an affiliate can’t be their own parent. Doing so would create a loop in the network, where the same affiliates lead back round to each other, which breaks the sub-affiliates table and the network chart.

If you enter a username that would create a loop, the assignment is refused with an explanation and the existing parent is left unchanged.

The same applies to the “Add Sub-Affiliate” button on the View Affiliate page: an affiliate who already sits above that one in the network can’t be added underneath them, and the reason is shown rather than the sub-affiliate appearing to have been added.

If you need to move an affiliate to a parent from further down their own network, remove the existing relationship first, then assign the new parent.
