MLA Affiliate variable to be used on any URL

Ideas Amir Anzur 3 years ago

We have a 2 tier affiliate system. Either someone gets a 25 % affiliate commission for referring a client or they receive a 10 % affiliate commission for referring an influencer who then introduces a client.

We have setup an affiliate link using the MLA. So now if the user is directed to: https://amiranzur.com/affiliate-registration/?a=amiranzur

it should enable them to signup as an affiliate or use the coupon so either will give the affiliate a=amiranzur (which is the mla=amiranzur but have changed the variable).

The question is can we simply use https://amiranzur.com/?a=amiranzur and get rid of the ” affiliate-registration” as it is not needed as the a=amiranzur passes on the variable?

This would mean that an affiliate could link to any blog post or podcast by simply adding ?a=amiranzur to the url.

We are trying to make the links as clean as possible for our affiliates and make everything as simple as possible. My developer thinks we need the ” affiliate-registration” otherwise it does not count the affiliate and I think that we don’t need it.

Ideally we would like for it to be clean so that an MLA link can link any page. This way our affiliates can add value to their followers by sending them value content such as podcasts or blogposts and make an affiliate commission.
