Track Podcast Sponsorship Sales with Promo Codes

Give every podcast you sponsor its own promo code. When listeners use it at checkout, the sale is credited to that show in WooCommerce, so you can see exactly what each ad read sold.

Why promo codes

Listeners don’t click, they remember a code

Podcast ads are heard, often while people are driving, walking or at the gym. A link in the show notes misses most of those sales. A promo code doesn’t.

1

Easy to say out loud

A short code like MAYA15 is easy for a host to read and for a listener to remember. Nobody needs to find a link in the show notes.

2

Tracked days later, on any device

People listen on the go and buy later, often on another device. The code is tracked when it’s typed at checkout, so the sale still counts.

3

A reason to buy now

The code gives listeners a discount, so they have a reason to use it, and you see exactly which show sent them.

How it works

From ad read to tracked sale in four steps

No separate podcast attribution tool to set up. It all runs on your own WooCommerce store, using the coupons you already know.

  1. Add the showCreate an account and promo code for each show or host, from your template coupon.
  2. The host reads the codeIn the ad read, the show notes, or both, with a referral link if they like.
  3. Listeners use itEvery order with their code is credited to the show, on any device.
  4. See what each show soldCompare shows by sales and commission, and pay hosts in one click with Pro.

One code per show

Give each podcast its own promo code

Go to Add New Affiliate, enter the host’s details and the code they’ll read out, like MAYA15. Their account and coupon are created for you, with the discount and limits from your template coupon.

Sponsoring several shows from one network? Assign more than one code to the same account, and each code’s orders are tracked separately. If a host already reads out a code of their own, just assign it to them, and past orders are included.

  • Account and coupon created for you
  • More than one code per account
  • Past orders included when you assign an existing code

Flat fee, commission or both

Pay hosts the way you agreed

Commission can be a percentage of the order, a fixed amount per order, a fixed amount per product, or a mix of these. And if you pay a flat fee for the ad slot, the code still tracks every sale, so you can see whether it paid for itself.

With Pro, give each show its own rate on their coupon, and pay a bonus when a listener is a brand-new customer.

  • Percentage, fixed per order or fixed per product
  • Cap the commission on any single order
  • Custom rate for each show Pro
  • New customer bonus Pro

I worry about conventional affiliate programs because people tend to use more than one device… Affiliate coupons solve that problem.

Protect your margin

Keep promo codes off coupon sites

A code read out to thousands of listeners can end up on coupon sites. Limit affiliate coupons to new customers, stop affiliates earning commission on their own orders, and block specific visitors.

With Pro, if a code turns up on a coupon site, you can stop it applying automatically for visitors from that site. You can also delay commission to cover your refund window.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How do you track podcast sponsorship sales?

Give each show or host their own WooCommerce coupon code, linked to their account in Coupon Affiliates. Any order that uses it is credited to that show, with the commission worked out, so you can see exactly what each sponsorship sold.

What if a listener forgets the code?

Hosts can put a referral link in the show notes that applies their code automatically, so listeners don’t need to remember it. With Pro lifetime commission, a customer who has used the code once stays linked to that host for future orders. Lifetime commission guide

Can I pay a flat fee instead of commission?

Yes. Pay the fee for the ad slot however you normally would, and the code still tracks every sale, so you can compare what each slot cost with what it sold. If you pay commission as well, it can be a percentage, a fixed amount per order, or both. Commission settings guide

Can one host have codes for different shows?

Yes. Assign more than one coupon to the same account, and each code’s orders are tracked separately, so you can see which show sold what. Assigning coupons guide

How do I stop a podcast promo code ending up on coupon sites?

You can limit affiliate coupons to new customers, stop affiliates earning on their own orders, and block specific visitors. With Pro, the domains blacklist stops the code applying automatically for visitors from that site, and can block manual use too. Fraud prevention guide

Can hosts see how their code is doing?

Yes. They log in to their affiliate dashboard, or the full-screen Affiliate Portal, to see their code’s uses, sales, commission and referred orders in real time. Affiliate Portal guide

Is there a free version?

Yes. The free version on WordPress.org includes coupon tracking, the affiliate dashboard, referral links and reports. Features marked Pro on this page need Coupon Affiliates Pro, which has a free 7-day trial. Get the free version
